A very early historic map of Central Park, one of the most well loved and visited locations in New York City. This beautifully detailed pictorial map from the public domain is from the year 1863 and was published by John Bachmann and printed by Frederick Heppenheimer. Colorful vignettes in the margins surround the main image of the newly constructed city center park and show scenes of ice skating in winter, horse drawn carriage rides, boating on a variety of ponds and lakes, Bethesda Terrace and fountain, the music stand and casino restaurant. This image has been restored and color corrected.

I'm a travel photographer and photo artist. For me, half the challenge is in the initial taking of the photo, the looking for something that catches my attention, getting that perfect composition, but the other half is in the processing, the tweaking and twisting and the addition of a little imagination to see how much detail I can bring to the surface and hopefully let the viewer see the same as I did when I took the shot. My images have been shot here, there and everywhere, mainly in the historic cities of Europe and with the occasional one taken in my own surroundings...
